Top 5 Kindergarten Teaching Ideas this Week {4-30}

Its exciting that our first Show n' Tell - Teacher Style hit the ground running last week – I’m featuring my favorite kinder teaching ideas to use this week from last Thursday’s linky party. I hope you find something fantastic that you’d like to try doing or try teaching.

These are just the top 5 teaching ideas that I had time to highlight, so a huge thank you for those who took the time to link up their fabulous teaching ideas!

Top 5 Kindergarten Teaching Ideas this Week

1. Sight Word Dictionaries – Get in those color words and number words 0-10 before the year is up with this free sight word dictionary. I like how Kristin explains by having kinders create their own pictures to associate with words really helps for comprehension and being able to use those word again later in their writing. So key for kindergarten! {Free download}

3. Scramble Freebie – This one makes me smile since I am a fan of boggle. Yep, I even have an app on my phone for it in those waiting moments like at the doctor's office. So why not bring it to a kinder level and have them get points for creating cvc words! Another great way to prepare for Dibels in addition to creating stronger phonics backgrounds. A new personal favorite! {Free download}

4. Countdown to Summer: E is for Experiments - This is one idea that I can see making all of our kinders giggle. Here is a simple experiment you can do quickly to get your scientists observing and predicting. A great launch to a writing activity or use with another beverage to compare what happens.

5. Countdown to Summer Days A & B - If you like to countdown the year using letters, then give these two ideas a try. Use art and bubbles to kick off your fun - tie them into your curriculum by having students write or read about each one to pull it all together.

7. Butterflies - Not only does this idea show you gorgeous photos of students exploring Painted Lady butterflies in a school setting, but you'll get an idea on a twist to create a butterfly house. What amazing writing could come from giving this a try?

Are you wondering what was the most popular {or most clicked on} idea from the party was? Well… it was Sight Word Dictionaries.

Thanks ladies. Your ideas are creative! You were all so awesome and you played first class by leaving comments for each other too {love that!} Feel free to grab my "I've been Highlighted" button since your tips and ideas were definitely worth the shout out.

You can view all of the ideas linked up HERE. If you have a blog, be sure to check in on Thursday when you can link up your favorite or most recent kindergarten teaching tip like a project you made, a lesson idea or a fun tip.
